Constellating the Masks of Myth
A five-week immersion in the art of finding astrological alignments with your personal favored myths.

Whether you’re looking up at the night sky, studying the planets and stars in your natal chart, or immersing yourself in poetry, film, painting, literature, the names of mythic figures are everywhere.
And though the stories are many and varied, I’m sure there are several that have always spoken directly to you in heart, mind, and soul. The details of these myths seem applicable to your own life, and you may identify, covertly, with these mythic figures.
What if there was a way to seek those mythic stories out in your natal chart, to find out where in your psyche these characters may live secret lives of their own, waiting for you to connect with them, intentionally? How can we awaken these stories held innately within?
The planets, asteroids, and fixed stars can light the way. Our sky is flooded with myth.
Over 23,000 named asteroids, ten planets, and a firmament full of fixed stars bear the names of mythic figures: Athena, Circe, Medea, Jason, Heracles, Chiron, Ariadne, Dionysus, Psyche, Eros, Medusa…
For many famous stories, we can identify asteroids named for characters relevant to those tales. By placing them into the natal chart together, and examining their aspect relationship to one another, we can unlock newfound awareness of our personal relationship to our favorite mythic tales.
In Constellating the Masks of Myth, you will learn to place your favorite mythic figures into your chart, and practice interpreting the constellation, or psychic complex, that the myth presents in your own natal chart.
What will this course look like?
Students and I will meet for three live 90 minute class sessions held on May 2nd, May 16th, and May 30th, where I will guide us in an exploration of how to use asteroids in the natal chart, offer retellings of a group of core myths, and explore charts with the group.
The intervening weeks between lectures will be our “discovery” weeks, where I will offer students a series of creative prompts and exercises, and allow for guided examination of the natal, to deepen personal revelations on the influence and role of myth in our lives. Students will be encouraged to share their discoveries with fellow students in a private online forum, to build relationship with fellow travelers, and help spark inspiration amongst the group.
What time will class meet, and what if I’m in a different timezone?
Classes will gather for live meetings at 4:30pm PST, on Zoom, and all classes will be recorded for those who cannot join live. It is not required to attend the live sessions, and you can catch up with the replays while still connecting in our private online forum.

LIVE LECTURE: MAY 2, 2023 | 4:30PM PST
In our first class session, you will learn best practices for working with asteroids in astrology, the history and discovery of asteroids in general, and how to read asteroids in the chart as your personal daimon, or guiding spirit, as per Hellenistic perspectives.
I will teach you the rationale for seeing mythic asteroids as part of larger psychic complexes, and how to trace them in the natal chart.
We will also explore the practice of working with asteroids and the Orphic Hymns in a personal ritual context.
This is our “theory” class.
-
DISCOVERY WEEK, NO LECTURE
This week of class allows space for students to research, seek out, and remember all the important stories that inspired them in childhood, or in their overall journey with mythic tales.
I will provide a series of reading materials to help spark your research, and will supply a series of writing and ritual exercises to light the way.
-
LIVE LECTURE: MAY 16TH, 2023 | 4:30PM PST
In our second live classroom session, we will explore the following myths, all grouped around experiences of devotion and the dark:
~ The Myth of Psyche and Eros
~ The Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice
~ The Myth of Perseus and Medusa
~ The Myth of Persephone and Hades
All three of these stories concern themes of the heart, from the depths of devotion in Psyche and Eros’s tale, to the bitterness of love and loss in Orpheus and Eurydice’s story, a story of betrayal, in the case of Perseus and Medusa, and finally, a story of the heart darkened, and then born anew, in Proserpina’s tale.
We’ll learn the psychic complexes that may arise from these myths, and learn how to plot them into the natal chart to understand our personal relationship to them.
-
DISCOVERY WEEK, NO LIVE LECTURE
This week, students will continue to explore the myths that mean the most to them, based on the findings of lecture three.
My offering this week to the group will be focused on building astrological ritual with mythic figures in our natal charts, based on readings of the Orphic Hymns, the Homeric Hymns. I will offer writing support in the art of crafting our own poetic invocations of these mythic figures, to help personalize ritual work.
-
LIVE LECTURE: MAY 30TH, 2023 | 4:30PM PST
In this class, we will explore myths of a slightly different valence, myths oriented toward themes of healing, inspiration, and expansion:
~ The Myth of Prometheus, Epimetheus, and Pandora
~ Apollo and Dionysus, Brothers of Inspiration
~ Apollo, Aesclepius, and Chiron, a Triumvirate of Healing
~ Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Juno: The Mandala of the Feminine

The Masks of Myth
As long as we’ve had language, we’ve had stories, the heroes and heroines of which wear infinite masks, disguising themselves in plain sight, waiting for our curious engagement.
This class will help shape a cohesive, creative application of asteroids and mythology in your astrological practice, and illuminate myriad new doorways to self-discovery in the process. I hope to see you there :)
